We're going to have to decide what to watch before September, or at least have an idea as to what to watch.
I think the best idea would be to pick a schedule before we start and if there is a consensus that we don't want to watch it (i.e. it's terrible, or most members have seen it before) then we'll ditch that programme.
So, please give us some suggestions. Post a short description (WITHOUT SPOILERS!) or link to a description. If there are shows you haven't seen, but would like to, please post those suggestions too.
Bear in mind that while the society can acquire most any programme that is at least fairly popular, we probably don't want to show anything that's more than 26-ish episodes long (i.e. no Monster, no Naruto, no One Piece) simply because it would probably be best to show more short series and get them all finished.
P.S. We're not the "just anime" society yet, so at least _try_ to think of some good non-anime TV shows - we need to come up with a better schedule for Western TV this year, because we had a poor one last year and had nobody turning up on Mondays.

I'll keep my list of suggestions seperate to the main post, for clarity. This is my list of anime suggestions, I'll have to think about Cult TV. Mushishi - historical fantasy - 26 episodes (2005, all aired, 5 episodes still unsubbed at the moment) - all episodes stand-alone - very sober and serious. The basic premise is that there are these mushi (literally, bug/insect) that exist. Most people can't see them, but they exist everywhere. Sometimes they cause problems for humans in various ways (not maliciously, they're just doing their thing). The protagonist, Ginko, is a mushishi; he travels around and sorts out these problems. Ergo Proxy - sci-fi - 23 episodes (2006, 16 aired, 13 subbed) - rather serious, but one of the main characters is about six so there's some relief from the seirousness. It's rather like Brave New World (i.e. gentle thought-control through propaganda and such). It's really, really beautiful; they must have spent a fortune on the budget. The storyline starts out straight-forward, but develops into something a lot more interesting. FLCL - surreal, comedy, sci-fi, action - 6-episode OVA (2000). This is really weird and surreal. I watched it without subtitles so I'm not quite sure what was going on, but it's really good, and pretty too ("used a 26-episodes worth of budget to produce the high quality animation"). Serial Experiments Lain - sci-fi, cyberpunk - 13 episodes (1998) - fairly serious and psychological. About a young girl experimenting with the Wired (the Internet). The plot is very interesting, and there are lots of references to science, technology (especially computing), and philosophy. It's really very interesting. Genshiken - comedy - 12 episodes (2004) - very light-hearted with a hint of seriousness. It's about The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture in Tokyo University. It's pretty much about geeks watching TV (where have I seen that before?), playing video games, cosplaying, etc.. It's interesting from a cultural perspective and very amusing.

John suggested showing Torchwood in some other topic (Doctor Who spinoff to star airing in October, if you don't know). Sounds good to me. While I'm here... The Prisoner always seemed interesting but I've never seen it. I've been to where it was filmed, Port Merion. It's really beautiful. 17 episodes, 50 minutes each. How about Six Feet Under? I have season 1 on DVD. Only 13 episodes in a 60-minute format. How about Stargate or Star Trek? They're always fun.

After browsing my Anime Database, I managed to pick out a few recommendations for the Anime schedule. The Animes which I have are all on DVD's stored as data so a laptop is needed. Originally I was going to propose for 3 26 eps series and 3 52 eps series but that's taken into account of non stop watching, in other words no breaks and I don't want to kill our audiences LOL So here is the proper proposal: 3 26 eps series and 1 52 eps series. They are: 26 Eps: 1. Read Or Die OVA and Read Or Die TV (you will have the urge to read books after watching it ) 2. Ah! Megami Sama (Oh! My Goddess!) 2005 (yes, the new one... go EP 19!!!) 3. Samurai Champloo (this was started last year but ran out of time so restart it in this coming year). 52 eps: Full Metal Panic (26 eps) + Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (13 eps) + Full Metal Panic The Second Raid (13 eps) + Full Metal Panic The Second Raid OVA (1 ep). These are all separate seasons but I'm slamming them together and as a bit series so that everyone can watch it. This is how it's going to be showed: 26 eps series will be shown 1 episode per Anime night and the Full Metal Panic's will be 2 eps per Anime night. Each night we will have approx. 55 mins break in total to allow evryone have a discussion about it and letting late comers a chance to come in on the next show... Whch means 10 mins break before or after the show.... Info about the series I'm propsing are here www.animenewsnetwork.com. Welcome any other suggestions.

How about we decide that unless there are any major objections, we do what Cliff suggests, with everything apart from FMP showing on Tuesdays, FMP and maybe some OVAs (short ones - voted on the week before they're shown) on Sundays. And then Monday we can have... well, whatever. Torchwood will be on fairly soon after the start of term, and we can continue season 2 of BSG. Maybe some sitcoms to fill in the gaps, I don't know.
